The Renton High School girls basketball team ended its season in the 2A regional state championship tournament.
The girls played Olympic High School Friday evening at Mount Tahoma High in Lakewood, losing the 45-36. The Indians finished the season within two games of the state title contest.
The Indians came out of the 2A West Central District 3 as the fifth seed.
The girls beat both Steilacoom, 49-44 and Lindbergh 66-34 to grab the fifth seed into the state championship tournament.
Renton took the 2A South Puget Sound League title with a 13-1 league record and the Indians ended the season 16-7 overall.
The girls finished with an RPI (Ratings Percentage Index) rank of 16th with .54926.
The team has seven senior this season including center Lillian Evans who scored a team high 169 points in 17 games averaging 9.9 points per game.
Tiajane Tate will also be graduating and she scored 115 points with an average of 6.8 points per game.
The second highest scoring player on the team, Tori Allen, is a junior for Renton. She poured in 125 points over the season averaging 7.4 per game.
Sean Benning, also a guard, is a sophomore and she averaged 5.2 points per game for a total of 67.
The team’s future looks bright on the perimeter and in the paint.
