Renton High’s lightweights had a heavy impact at the Rainshadow Invitational wrestling tournament in Sequim Saturday.
Aaron Garcia and Suagot Chetri met in the finals of the 103-pound class for an all-Renton championship bout. Garcia came out on top in a decision.
Garcia went 3-0 in the tournament, while Chetri went 3-1 with his only loss coming in the championship round.
Garcia beat Louis Wright of West Seattle, Kevin Nguen of Kentridge and Chetri. Chetri beat Anson Heilman of Mount Rainier, Alex Griewe of Bainbridge and Lauren Richardson of Bremerton.
John Nobis placed for Renton at 275 pounds. Nobis went 2-3 and took sixth place in the weight class. Nobis beat Jordan Hoover of Clover Park and Robby McNair of Cedarcrest.
Tuan Chau 1-2 and won sixth place at 112 pounds. Chau beat Matt Moriarty of North Kitsap.
Rex Castillo (130), Johnny Huynh (140), Antonio Barrera (160) and Joseph Watson (275) won at least one match for Renton. Luke Bartlett (171) and Martin Hooker (215) also wrestled for the Indians at the tournament.
As a team, Renton earned 39 points at the 17-team tournament.
