Renton squares off against Shadle Park in first round of state tourney | Boys basketball

After going 1-1 at the final weekend of the bi-district tournament, Renton will play Shadle Park in the first round of the 3A state tournament. The Indians (14-12) play the Highlanders (20-4) Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Tacoma Dome.

Renton finished the bi-district seeding games with a 52-50 loss to Mount Rainier (March 5) and a 61-56 overtime win against Bremerton (March 6).

It was Renton’s third loss of the season against the Rams.

The Highlanders are coming out of the Greater Spokane League, where they finished second to Gonzaga Prep.

Shadle Park has won eight straight games and averages 62 points per game.

The Indians are on the same side of the bracket as two other Seamount teams, Foster and Mount Rainier.

The Rams face O’Dea in the first round and will play Renton again in the second round of both teams win or both lose.

Foster will see Bellevue in the first round.
