Renton senior P.J. Benedictus signed a letter of intent to compete in track at Washington State University.

Benedictus won the 3A state triple jump title last season with a distance of 49 feet, 0.75 inches. He’s already topped 48 feet twice during the indoor track season, including 48 feet, 2.75 inches at the University of Washington Open meet Feb. 13. That jump earned him second place against a group of elite athletes from Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho and Alaska.
