Renton High junior Steve Sholdra competed at the 2010 Speedo Short Course Junior National Championships in Atlanta Dec. 9-12.
Sholdra placed eighth in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16 minutes 21.30 seconds. He also took 97th in the 200-yard butterfly preliminaries.
Sholdra also raced in the Washington State Senior Championships Dec. 16-19. He finished second in the 1,000 free with a time of 9:50.69. He took fourth in the 200 fly (1:57.02), eighth in the 200 fly (1:58.89), 10th in the 400 individual medley (4:16.70) and swam in five other events.
Sholdra also set some records at his local club, the Bellevue Club Swim Team. Sholdra became the fasted swimmer in the club’s 32-year history to complete a set of 10 1,500-meter sets. He is the first swimmer to attempt the set at the club in nine years.
