Hazen performed the best as a team, while Renton’s Steven Sholdra earned a district title at the West Central District 3A swim & dive championships Feb. 12-13 at Hazen.
The Highlanders scored 125.5 points and finished fifth at the meet. Renton scored 52 and placed 10th.
Hazen highlights:
- Hazen finished third in the 200 medley relay (Chase Onstot, Nathan Tat, Alex Klemetsen, Emoniel Isakharov)
- Onstot also finished fourth in the 200 freestyle and fourth in the 500 freestyle.
- Tat finished third in the 200 freestyle and second in the 100 breast
- Isakharov finished 10th in the 50 freestyle
- Klemetsen finished sixth in the one-meter dive competition and 10th in the 100 fly
- Hazen finished fifth in the 200 freestyle relay (Klemetsen, Corbin Kozai, Tommy Truong, Isakharov)
- Hazen finished fifth in the 400 freestyle relay (Onstot, Truong, Kozai, Tat)
Renton highlights:
- Renton finished seventh in the 200 medley relay (Jeremy Odden, Andrew Vu, Sholdra, Jacky Tran)
- Sholdra won the 500 freestyle with a time of four minutes, 48.07 seconds. He also placed fourth in the 100 breast.
- Odden finished 11th in the 100 backstroke
- Vu finished 10th in the 100 breaststroke
- Renton finished 12th in the 200 freestyle relay (Odden, Tyler Pascual, Vu, Tran)
- Renton finished 11th in the 400 freestyle relay (Odden, Tran, Vu, Sholdra)
The 3A state swim and dive meet is Feb. 18-20 at the King County Aquatic Center Federal Way.
