Rough night for Hazen soccer

Redmond’s Mustangs have a returning roster made up with most of the players that picked up a third place state trophy last year. They’re off to a 3-0 start this year and have one focus — a state championship. It was all on display Thursday in a 5-1 win at The Joe.

“In the first half, we were having a hard time finding space and time to do anything with our transition game,” said Hazen coach Ken Matthews.

Down 2-0 at the half, Matthews changed up the formation. Three minutes into the half Takoda Zuehlke gathered in a pass from a player to be named later to cut the lead in half. It was a close as the Highlanders would get.

“Luckily, we can forget about tonight quickly since we play our second league game tomorrow,” Matthews said.

Takoda Zuehlke was Man of the Match.

The Highlanders are set to host Kentridge 7:30 p.m.tonight, Friday, March 15 at Renton Stadium.
