The Sea Gals will hold open auditions for their 2015 squad on April 25 at Virginia Mason Athletic Center (VMAC) in Renton, the team announced today.
Auditions will be comprised of four competition rounds. The first round of competition includes a one minute freestyle dance to music provided by the Seahawks.
Contestants will be judged in three categories: dance ability, pizzazz and physical appearance.
The auditions begin on Saturday, April 25 with the final competition and live webcast at 5 p.m., May 3.
Applicants must be at least 19 years of age and have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent by April 25, 2015. The 2015 squad will consist of 24 to 32 members.
Four workshops will be held to help prepare applicants for the competition. The workshops will consist of instruction on dance steps, a sample dance routine, and a Q&A session about the audition process. They will be held at local Gold’s Gyms and cost $30 per session.
The first open workshop is scheduled for 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Gold’s Gym in Issaquah.
Sea Gals Director Sherri Thompson and Sea Gals Choreographer Shannon Kingsley will teach the classes. It is advisable, but not necessary, to attend any of the workshops in order to audition.
“The workshops are designed to prepare applicants in all three areas of judging, including dance ability, pizzazz and physical appearance,” Sea Gals director Sherri Thompson said in a press release. “Applicants can attend one or more sessions to prepare and build their confidence for the competition.”
The Sea Gals make more than 300 public appearances in the community throughout the year. The squad performed on the field at the last two Super Bowls in addition to numerous national TV appearances including the following: ESPN, Fox & Friends, Fox Sports, Good Morning America, TODAY Show, Access Hollywood and Inside Edition.
