The Seattle Seahawks picked Alabama offensive lineman James Carpenter with the 25th pick in the first round of the NFL Draft Thursday evening.
Carpenter played tackle in college but has shown the versatility to play guard, which may have been a factor in the Seahawks selecting him. The team has needs at right tackle and offensive guard.
In his draft blog, ESPN analyst John Clayton said, “the Seahawks stunned everyone by taking offensive tackle James Carpenter.”
Clayton also listed every NFC West team other than St. Louis on his losers list because all three teams failed to pick up a quarterback in the first round.
The NFL Draft continues Friday at 3 p.m. on ESPN.
