A pair of talented sophomores led the way for Renton swimmers at the 3A state swim and dive meet Feb. 18-20.
Renton’s Steve Sholdra and Liberty’s Logan Briggs took second and third respectively in the 500 freestyle, for the Renton-area’s highest finishes.
As a team, Liberty finished highest in 10th, with 89 points. Hazen took 11th with 73 points. Renton earned 19th and scored 26 points.

200 medley relay
Liberty finished ninth in the finals (Luke Duschl, Shunya Asano, Austin Briggs, Logan Briggs).
Hazen took tenth (Chase Onstot, Nathan Tat, Alex Klemetsen, Emoniel Isakharov), finishing 1.67 seconds behind Liberty.
Renton finished 17th in the preliminaries (Aslan DaVault, Andrew Vu, Steve Sholdra, Jacky Tran), 0.42 seconds away from making the finals.

Logan Briggs placed sixth in the finals with a time of 1:44.96. Just 0.30 seconds separated the sophomore from fourth place.
Onstot finished 22nd in the preliminaries.
