The Seamount League 2A top seed Lindbergh Eagles soccer team ran into a buzzsaw named North Kitsap Thursday and will play Saturday to keep its season alive.
The Eagles, who finished this season 8-6-3 overall and in second place in the league table behind Kennedy Catholic (who top the league’s 3A spot in the district playoffs), fell to the Vikings 5-0 in their matchup in North Kitsap.
But because of their top seed, Lindbergh has an opportunity to continue on the state tournament with a must-win game Saturday against cross-town rivals the Renton Indians, who beat Steilacoom 2-1 Thursday to advance.
The two teams square off at 2 p.m. at Franklin Pierce Stadium in Tacoma.
The winner of Renton-Lindbergh will advance to the state tournament as the third-place finisher from the district. The loser’s season will end.
