Volleyball: Lindbergh moves on to subdistricts; Hazen and Renton end season at league tournment

Hazen, Renton and Lindbergh competed in the Seamount League tournament Monday at Mount Rainier High School to play for a chance to move on in the postseason.

Lindbergh

After beating the Rams 3-2 during the regular season, the Eagles knew they would get a battle from their first-round foe.

Mount Rainier won 25-21, 25-15 and 25-21.

Lindbergh quickly bounced back to beat Hazen and then Foster to earn the Seamount’s fifth seed into the Seamount/SPSL 3A subdistrict tournament.

Renton

Renton battled, but fell to Evergreen in the first round. The Wolverines took the first game 25-13, then Renton lost two close ones 25-20 and 25-28.

The Indians then moved on to play Foster for another chance to qualify for districts. Renton beat Foster 3-1 during the regular season and looked to be on track when it started with a 25-15 win.

But the Bulldogs came back, winning 25-20, 25-19 and 25-22 to abruptly end the Indians’ season.

Hazen

Hazen lost to one of the state’s top volleyball teams in Kennedy Catholic in the first round 25-7, 25-13 and 25-6.

The Highlanders then fell to Lindbergh in the next round. The loss ended their season.
